Castleman’s CARL Builds on 20 Years of Experience

Greg Castleman drew on his 20 years of experience from the design of his first escort tug in 1993 to his latest design, the tractor tug, CARL. Always at the cutting edge of tug technology, Castleman used the knowledge gained over the years to craft a vessel ideally suited to the waters in which she’d be working (Port Lavaca - Point Comfort) — one ideally suited to her daily mission, and perhaps most importantly, meet the demands and budget of her operators, Point Comfort Towing.

With 6,300 horsepower and her Rolls Royce Z drives, this new tug will be able to safely assist the LNG ships docking at Port Comfort.

Since CARL is home to her crew for two weeks at a time, Castleman made sure to devote more than adequate space and conveniences for life on boat.
